How the savings are calculated

Water applied versus water bought. The default 117 gallons per vehicle reflects approximately 87 gallons of reclaim plus 30 gallons of fresh-supplied water in an exterior conveyor wash study. Your utility bill reflects new water purchased, not every gallon recirculated through the tunnel.

Additional domestic water displaced. Monthly cars × water applied per car × eligible share × (target reuse − current reuse). Only the positive difference is shown. Actual savings cannot exceed the domestic water your site can replace; keep required domestic and spot-free uses in place.

RO spot-free and concentrate. RO permeate serves the spot-free rinse. If its concentrate is returned to reclaim and used in the wash, count those gallons within the reclaim stream once. If it goes to drain, it provides no reclaim offset and can increase new water demand. The calculator does not separately model RO recovery.

Purchased water and sewer discharge. Returning RO concentrate to reclaim is an internal transfer. With tank levels steady, sewer discharge is approximately purchased water minus evaporation, vehicle carryout, and other non-sewer losses. The conveyor study measured 30 gallons purchased and 6.3 gallons lost to evaporation and carryout per car, implying about 23.7 gallons to sewer under those assumptions. This calculator estimates incremental savings; it does not estimate total sewer discharge.

Water CPV Savings. Monthly domestic water cost avoided ÷ monthly vehicles washed. This per-vehicle figure excludes sewer and separator cleanout savings and shows cents rather than rounding to whole dollars.

Annual dollars. Additional displaced gallons × 12 ÷ 1,000 × your avoidable water rate; an avoidable sewer rate is added only if the utility charges less when discharge or billed usage falls. Verify the billing method before entering a sewer rate. Fewer separator cleanouts × cost per visit adds maintenance savings. Reuse also reduces reliance on purchased water while preserving water for wash steps suited to reclaim.
